a walk on the
high line, June 24, 2003.
ACCESS- for those interested
you can walk up the ramp at 34th and Tenth
be careful

an early start, walked confidently past the
security guard in the railway yard on 34th.....

looking grouse, mate!

beautiful morning, the city hums around us but we
find ourselves in a meadow...

sort of....

a bit of a squeeze....

et voila!

looking good

someone's put a plank to their window and planted
some stuff and put flowerpots around. luvverly!

coke anyone?

it's a jungle up here.....

the great explorer....

some artwork....

don't pull the lever!

a road to nowhere...

and down we go again.

back on terra firma, looking up at where we just
had our stroll...

the high line is an elevated railway track that
runs above 10th Ave., in New York. It was built as part of the
New Deal in the '30s (to relieve
"Death Avenue", as it was called) and was used untill 1980.
Ironically this steel structure has become the
only green space for miles around and many would
like to see it as parkland.
