This house of worship was built by the Manhattan Church of Christ, a nondenominational Protestant congregation. The expressive design of the church is a departure from traditional Gothic and Classical ecclesiastical architecture. An asymmetrical massing, composed of textured precast concrete blocks, frames a 38-by-20-foot abstractly designed stained-glass window. The New Brutalism of the 1960’s is expressed by the church’s volumetric design and concrete structure.
