Picturesque massing, including battered walls, machicolations, and other heroic brick detailing, makes this a special event among the rows of brownstones. Here stands a tower where boiling oil might be poured on mythical attackers. The statue of the doughboy remembers World War I (1923, Anton Scaaf).
