Picturesque massing, including battered walls, machicolations, and other
heroic brick detailing, makes this a special event among the rows of
brownstones. Here stands a tower where boiling oil might be poured on
mythical attackers. The statue of the doughboy remembers World War I
(1923, Anton Scaaf). |
