notes
|
From a narrow plot (less than 45 feet wide), Severance designed his building as a large pediment, a little bit ala Paramount Bldg, minus any dephth behind. The setbacks prove to be well-balanced and in a perfect symmetry. The verticality character is accentuated by protruding piers and recessed spandrels and windows. The final crown is a jumble of balconies, battlements and machicolations, reminiscences of French Medieval under the Valois. |
