Ritualarium,
formerly Arnold Toynbee Hall.
Since 1940 the building has housed a mikvah, a bathhouse for the ritual
purification of Orthodox Jewish women and men. It is one of only three
mikvot in Manhattan and the only mikvah that remains on the Lower East
Side from the many that once dotted the area. |
